Creating a Camping Equipment List

A camping equipment list is the foundation that must be focused on in order to start a great camping trip. A poorly created list could result in a lot of problems throughout the entire trip. Your trip is going to depend largely on the fact that you are prepared. Preparation is key in order to ensure that your camping trip is successful.

An equipment list should be created based on the answers to the following questions:

1. How long is your camping trip going to last?

2. Where are you planning on going?

3. What is the temperature/environment like at the place you are planning on going?

4. What time of the year will you be traveling?

5. How many people are you going with?

Once you have the answered to all of the questions above, you will be able to more accurately and thoroughly prepare for your upcoming camping trip.

You should research the actual campsite that you are planning on heading to. It is important that you research the campsite in order to see exactly where you will be staying. You will need to find out whether or not the campsite has clean water. You also need to find out what equipment the campsite already has. You will also want to find out what type of animals the campsite has around it. All of these factors are going to dictate what goes into your camping equipment list.

What To Bring With You:

1. Tent.

You will undoubtedly need to bring a tent with you. This is easily one of the most important things that you are going to bring. Shelter is going to be the most important thing in order to keep you safe, warm, and happy. It is important that you bring a tent that is sufficient to handle the temperatures and weather that you can expect from the campsite/location that you are heading to.

2. Tent Repair Kit.

This is another thing that you are going to have to bring. You do not want your tent leaking in the middle of the night if it gets damaged due to poor weather conditions. You need to be prepared in order to ensure that you stay dry.

3. Ground sheet.

The ground can become extremely cold at night , and it is important to get off of the ground where critters can crawl. You need to be sure to bring one of these ground sheets with you in order to complete your shelter from the elements.

4. Sleeping Bag.

A sleeping bag is going to be something that you must bring. You need to keep your body warm throughout the night. Your body lowers its temperature at nighttime (when the temperature cools), and you need to be sure that you remain warm throughout the entire night.

5. Backpack.

A backpack is going to be an essential item to bring. The reason why a backpack is so essential is because you will need to carry important things with you such as; water, compass, canteen, etc.

6. Portable Water Carrier.

You will need a carrier for your water. It is important to remain hydrated at all times when you are outside in the elements.

7. Portable Toilet.

If you are planning on going out camping for a long time, you may decide that it is worth it to bring a portable bathroom/toilet.

8. Flashlight (extra batteries if applicable).

It is also important to bring a flashlight. You will always want to be sure that you have a flashlight with adequate batteries in case you need it in an emergency.

The above items should be a great starting point for creating your full equipment list.
